I am a Director of Development and Technical Architect from Minneapolis, Minnesota, with well over ten years of team handling, geek wrangling, professional software architecture, and system administration experience. I have touched most major platforms and technologies during that time. I try to be a jack of all trades, but I am continually trying to avoid the response, "Yes, but not too good at one thing."
You could say that I'm actively trying to change that perception.
I am a passionate technology generalist, having written large, scalable enterprise applications for the web and in the server farm, an avid follower of technology trends and new ways to solve problems, and a gadget hound. I am buzzword-compliant. While I have had my share of startups, buyouts, and other trivia of the IT world, I've loved every minute of it, and I'm always looking for the "next new thing" in technology.
My emphasis is on looking at the bigger picture when it comes to technology, without locking myself into a language, technology, or potential passing fad. I'm fairly platform agnostic, especially when it comes to my spare time. I have a long, storied history with the Perl programming language. I've done a great deal of work in mobile development on Android, as well as HTML 5 responsive web applications. I've experimented regularly with Python and Django, Ruby and Rails, and even passing fancies like Vala and Go, including creating a relatively well-featured web framework for Vala. I'm still having a lot of fun with technology.
